Tried & Cooked is a ‘harmonic collection’ made as a website
where I document the different kinds of food I’ve tasted in New York or tried to cook as a student who recently moved to New York. The goal of this website is for the user to fully immerse themselves in the memory that I’m trying to depict through the photos/illustrations for each of the dishes. The design of the website was primarily focused on colour, typography and scale.
The site was made using HTML, CSS and Javascript for a standard Macbook Pro 13” screen. The mobile screens, however, are still a work in progress. All the photographs, videos and illustrations were taken and made by me. You can view the website here.
Each dish is represented using a unique typeface which represents the form or personality of the dish in my opinion.

The process:
A major challenge that I faced with this website is setting the primary design language. I went through quite a few homescreen designs as the designs that were made initially were too advanced to make for an intro class. Therefore, I tailored my iterations going forward based on what was possible and built on it as I coded it on HTML and CSS.
